Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners tables.

Viewers can expect learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
